Chapter 33 Part 2 ( Melanee) I followed her onto the couch. I sat down next to her. She sighed. She looked at me. - Do you honestly believe that no one cares about you?- She asked me. I rolled my eyes. - Roll your eyes one more time and Ill poke them out.- She said. I smiled. - Yes.- - Well, youre wrong.- I looked at her, surprised. - No Im not.- - Do you think that if they didnt care about you they wouldnt be out crazy looking for you? Joe was already half way out the door when I told him I found you! I had to beg him to wait until tomorrow! They love you Melanee! More than you know they do! And I am sorry if you think I am one of the reasons why Joe hasnt been around lately. Its just I feel alone to, and really right now Joe is the only one I have. But I know he is your brother, and you need him right now to. - It was right then when I realized how selfish I was being. There was someone out there who had is worse than me. And that person was right in front of me, making sure I was okay! I was a monster! I hugged her. - Im sorry. Im a selfish jerk.- She let go of me. She smiled. - No youre not. Youre just 13.- She laughed. I smiled. Her face became serious again. - Things will get better. Promise.- She smiled again. - Thanks.- I said. - and I care about you to, Melanee. - She said. I was surprised again. - You do?- I asked. - I would of left you alone on the side of the road if I didnt.- - Thanks Mercedes. Oh, and Im sorry.- I said. - Sorry? For what?- She asked, curios. - For Rizzo.- I almost whispered. She just looked at me, with a blank expression. - Dont you get it? Its my fault! Everyones problems revolve around me! Everyones pain! Amal is upset because of what I said to her. Kevin is upset because I am on a free-for-all. Joe is upset because you are upset. Nick is upset for Rizzo, and you are a mess because of Rizzo! Rizzo would of never had gotten hurt if she wasnt following me, if I hadnt been running away from Jeff! If I would of just freaking told some one! None of this would be happening! I hate myself! I cant deal with it!- My voice became a whisper. - I could of killed her.- Mercedes was on the verge of tears. They were already streaming down my face. I buried my face in my hands as a sob broke from me. Mercedes rubbed my back. When I finally clamed down Mercedes said. - Wrong.- - No!- - yes. Jeff.- - No! Melanee!- Mercedes faced. She looked almost angry. - Melanee! Face the facts! This was not youre fault! Everyone could of done something to stop it! You are just picking on yourself! You never wanted Rizzo to get into this! She was I meanis to good of a person to let it be if she thought someone was in trouble! Why cant you just understand that?!?- What she said made sense, I had to admit. I hugged her again, and stayed like that for a while. - Thanks.- I muttered. - Youre welcome.- She answered. - Get some sleep. You can sleep here is you want, or you can sleep in the guest bedroom, second door on the left, right next to the bathroom.- I got up from the couch. - Okay. Thanks.- She hugged me again. - You can borrow some PJs from me. After I got settled I went into the guest room. I didnt even bother turning on the light. I just found the bed, and collapsed into it. It was past midnight. I was exhausted. I fell asleep seconds after I hit the pillow. This was a make up for all of the really short chapters i wrote! Hope you liked it!
