1005 #87 Mei River Floods Nanfeng Village

Back

Mei River overflowed amid torrential rains brought by Super Typhoon Jangmi and flooded Nanfeng village in Renai Township. Flood waters destroyed almost half of the homes and left 67 residents trapped by the time on Sep. 30. The rescue scene was dangerous. Seediq residents stood at the side of the road waiting for rescue as the rapid river gushed by. The flood water inundated the homes of many Seediq and Truku people and also damaged Nanfeng Bridge - which is the village's only link to the outside world.
