Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire - 100 Battle Tower wins & how to cheat

Back

For the truly curious hardcore gamer, this is the dialogue that takes place between you and the Battle Tower owner when you win 100 times in a row at the Battle Tower but don't have room in your PC for the Gold Shield. This video also showcases a little-known process that allows your to circumvent the infuriatingly frustrating check on whether the game was turned off in the middle of a Battle Tower challenge, which would reset your win streak back to zero if it was (or if you lost). Basically, it lets you continue, and that's the way it should be. First of all, this will only work on Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire. It won't work with Emerald. Yeah, I know. Now get back to losing to bullshit at the Battle Frontier. You'll also need Pokémon Box for the GameCube. If you don't have it already, then, well... good luck getting your hands on a copy for cheap. Connect your GBA with the game in it to the GameCube, then go to Adventure. Once the game loads from your GBA cartridge, TURN THE GBA OFF. For good measure, I pull out the cartridge, too. Leave it off. When you start a Battle Tower challenge, go through the dialogue where the girl saves your game. When she says, "I'll direct you to your room," press B. This bypasses the game save, allowing you to quit out of the game with no ill effects if you should lose. Make sure you exit out of Adventure by pressing Z or soft-resetting Pokémon Box with X + B + Start/Pause, because a soft reset on the local GBA ROM (A + B + Select + Start) won't work -- it'll think you quit and it'll send you back to 0 wins (no problem, though -- just reset Pokémon Box). Load your game from scratch again and you'll be fine. Enjoy your ribbons, items, furniture, and that sexy star on your trainer card. I got to 105 wins this way, but it turned out I didn't lose. Wish I knew about this when I lost on my previous run on battle 92.
